Joseph Stannard
1797 - 1830

Painted mainly landscapes and marine pictures but was also a highly successful portrait painter and etcher. He was taught by Robert Ladbrooke and, although he never joined the Norwich Society, in his turn he taught E T Daniell etching and also taught his own brother, Alfred, to paint. He was married to Emily Coppin, the still life painter, who survived him by 55 years.
